ASSW 2008 is hosted by the Government

Academy of Sciences (RAS), Komi
Science Centre, Ural branch, RAS, Arctic Research Centre, Council of Rectors of Komi Republic.
Komi Science Center (KSC) under Ural Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences is the leading scientific organization of Komi Republic. KSC comprises 6 institutes; Institute of Biology, Institute of Geology, Institute of Language, Literature and History, Institute of Physiology, Institute of Chemistry, Institute of Social, Economic and Energy Problems of the North.
The basic lines of KSC’s research activities are related to the Earth sciences, including geology of fuel, ore and non-metallic minerals, ecological human and animal physiology in the Arctic, biodiversity, population biology and ecology, biocenose of taiga and tundra ecosystems in the North-East European part of Russia, technologies in processing new prospective renewable raw minerals and new materials development, theory and practice of development of the Komi people and other peoples in North-Eastern Europe.
Arctic Research Centre (ARC) of the Russian Academy of sciences was established in 1989. The ARC is responsible for political, economic, social and environmental problems of the Russian Arctic and Northern regions. The ARC very closely works with federal executive and legislative agencies, regional and local authorities, organizations of indigenous population and scientific institutions from circumpolar countries.
Council of Rectors of higher educational institutions located in Komi Republic is a state-public organ of administration over higher and post- higher professional education in Komi Republic and simultaneously – a division of the Russian Council of Rectors. Council was created with the aim to coordinate activities of higher educational institutions in the field of development of higher and post-higher professional education, summarizing and propagation of positive experience of the educational process and scientific work, raising the level of scientific and pedagogical cadres skill, etc. The members of the Council are the Rectors of higher professional educational institutions in Komi Republic, representatives of some scientific and administrative organs of the Republic.
